INTERESTED IN JOINING THE DAR?

The Daughters of the American Revolution is a vibrant, service-oriented organization dedicated to preserving history, promoting education, and honoring patriotism. If you are a woman age 18 or older with a possible family connection to the American Revolution—or even if you’re just curious—our chapter would love to help you explore your eligibility.

You don’t need to know your Revolutionary War ancestor to get started. Our members and national resources can guide you through the research process every step of the way.

Contact Us or reach out to DAR National to learn more about membership and how you can become part of this meaningful legacy.

What are the requirements to join the DAR?

To be eligible for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), an applicant must:

  • Be a woman age 18 or older

  • Prove lineal descent

    • Supported the cause of American independence during the American Revolutionary War (1775–1783)

    • This includes military service or civil service (such as signing loyalty oaths, providing supplies, serving on committees, etc.)

  • Provide documentation that links each generation from herself to the qualifying patriot ancestor

You do not need to already know your patriot ancestor. Many women discover their eligibility with help from a local chapter or DAR genealogists.
