Event OVerview

We are proud to formally recognize The Three Village Community Trust and The Long Island Cemetery Preservation Group, Inc. for their extraordinary collective work preserving historic sites and local heritage.

A highlight of the program is our keynote speaker, Noel Gish — author, historian, consultant, and researcher — widely known as “Mr. Long Island” for his deep knowledge of Long Island history.

The event concludes with docent-led tours of Patriots Rock, the strategic skirmish site used by Patriot forces during the 1777 Battle of Setauket, and the gravesite of Culper Spy Abraham Woodhull at Setauket Presbyterian Church.

Proceeds from this event support veterans’ causes, patriotic outreach, historic preservation, and educational programs exploring Colonial Long Island and the Culper Spy Ring — emphasizing the vital role ordinary citizens, such as Anna Smith Strong, played in winning the American Revolution. Donations help expand these educational efforts into classrooms and the broader community.

Sponsorship

Join Our “Spy Ring” of Sponsors

As we approach the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, we invite you to stand 250 Years Stronger with us. We invite community leaders, businesses, and organizations to join our modern Spy Ring as mission sponsors. Your support makes it possible to present a meaningful commemorative event featuring live music, a dynamic keynote speaker, historical displays, refreshments, and the formal recognition of organizations dedicated to preserving historic sites and local heritage.

Whether you choose to signal your support as a Black Handkerchief Sponsor or join the Whaleboat Brigade, your sponsorship helps preserve the American spirit and ensures that the story of the Culper Spy Ring—and the flame of liberty it protected—continues to burn bright for generations to come.

Sponsorship Levels

Multiple sponsorship levels are available, each offering meaningful recognition and the opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to history, education, and community engagement.

The Premier "Signal" Sponsor: In the legend of the Culper Ring, a single black handkerchief hung on a clothesline in Setauket served as the ultimate signal that a message was ready for transport. As our top-tier sponsor, you represent the critical link in our mission.

  • Historical Note: Inspired by our namesake, Anna Smith Strong, who used her daily laundry to signal the location of hidden whaleboats to the spies across the Sound.
  • Benefits: 8 Event Admissions | Exclusive Spotlight Recognition during our keynote presentation and documentary screening | Premier placement in the event program and on our "Mission Board."

The "Illumination" Sponsor: General Washington demanded the highest security, using a specialized invisible ink that required a specific chemical Reagent to make the writing appear. As a Secret Reagent sponsor, you are the catalyst for our success, transforming our hidden goals into

visible results.

  • Historical Note: This "sympathetic ink" allowed Culper Junior (Robert Townsend) to hide intelligence between the lines of ordinary merchant letters, safely moving secrets under the very eyes of the British.
  • Benefits: 4 Event Admissions | Featured Bold Listing in the "Inner Circle" section of the program | Recognition on the event Mission Board.

The "Momentum" Sponsor Intelligence was useless if it couldn't cross the dangerous, British-patrolled waters of the Long Island Sound. Our Whaleboat Brigade sponsors represent movement and action.

  • Historical Note: Caleb Brewster’s whaleboats were the "couriers" of the Ring, navigating secret coves to move letters from Long Island to Connecticut.
  • Benefits: 2 Event Admissions | Listing in the "Courier Network" section of the program | Recognition on the event Mission Board.

The "Vigilance" Sponsor For our community members who keep a watchful eye on our local heritage, ensuring the flame of patriotism

remains bright.

  • Benefits: 1 Event Admission (at the $250 level) | Line listing in the "Vigilance" section of the printed program.
